Hyderabad: Despite the lack of figures for the MLC elections of the local authorities of Hyderabad, the BJP hopes for a strong performance, in the bank on the cross vote of other parties. According to sources, the leaders of the BJP actively engage with the corporators who had previously passed from BJP to BRS, because the latter decided to stay away from the competition.
Although the BJP does not have the force required to win alone, it chose to challenge the seat against the Aimim. “We hold hands to the leaders of other parties, urging them to come together to defeat Aimim,” said a senior BJP official.
There are 112 voters in the fray. Aimim currently holds 49 votes, BJP 25, Congress 14 and BRS 24. With the winning threshold at 57 votes, even Aimim is short and is put on the support of the Congress to reach a projected total of 63. The BRS, led by President KT Rama Rao, announced his decision.
With GHMC elections Scheduled for later this year, the BJP considers the election of the MLC as a crucial warm -up. In 2020, the party almost won the mayor’s headquarters and was determined to go further this time. President and Minister of the Union of the BJP G Kishan Reddy And the MLC candidate, Goutham Rao, organized a series of strategy meetings in preparation. The BJP’s surprise victory of more than 40 seats in the GHMC 2020 elections had propelled the party under the national spotlight.
Meanwhile, KTR warned BR companies against cross -vote, declaring that a whip will be issued and that any violation will invite serious consequences.
Although the mayor’s headquarters in the Grand Hyderabad was held by the BRS before the assembly elections, several corporateurs, including the mayor, have since defined themselves in the congress following the rise of the party. With a reduced presence in the GHMC and little hope of winning, BRS officially withdrew from the election of the local body.
