Chandigarh: the famous sentence “Aya Ram Gaya Ram“Widely used across the country for politicians who change loyalty have its origin of Haryana and it is because of one person”Gaya LAL“Whose son Udai Bhan Singh is currently the head of the Haryana unit of Congress. It was actually the deputy of Gurgaon Rao Inderjit Singh and former CM of Haryana, Rao Birender Singh, who invented this quarter 57 years ago in 1967.
Haryana had her first elections for the State Assembly in 1967 and the dissident of the Gaya Lal Congress had disputed and won as an independent candidate of Hasanpur (reserved), now Hodal Souge in Faridabad.in this election, a total of 16 independent candidates had won. At that time, the united front as well as the congress looked at the independent deputies to form the government.
It was at this point that Gaya Lal joined the United Front, but after a while, his heart changed and he joined the Congress. Again, in a few hours, he joined the united front. With that, he changed his loyalty three times in a day.
On Gaya Lal, changing his loyalty for the third time, Rao Birender Singh, former Haryana CM (March 24, 1967 to November 2, 1967) who was heading for the united front, presented him before the media in Chandigarh and said: “Jo Gaya Ram Le, Wo Aaya Ram Hao Gaye Hain” (The person who had left earlier). It was after Rao Birender Singh’s announcement that the expression “Aya Ram Gaya Ram” became popular in politics and was used for figures.
Although several other Haryana legislators or politicians have repeatedly changed their loyalty to their political career until the entry into force of the anti-defection law, the maxim “Aya Ram Gaya Ram” is still linked to Gaya Lal. In 1972, Gaya Lal joined Arya Sabha, then jumped to Bhartiya Lok Dal de Charan Singh. He also joined the Janata party before contesting his last elections in the Assembly in 1982 as an independent candidate.
After the 1967 surveys, Gaya Lal was elected again in 1977 for once again. He died in 2009.
Interestingly, his son Udai Bhan, who is currently head of the Haryana PCC, also faced charges under the anti-defection law for having pretended to join the congress in 2004. At the time, he was an independent deputy for Hasanpur Seat, having been elected in the elections of the 2000 public assembly.
During the survey campaign, Ashok Tanwar went to Congress a few hours after being part of a BJP survey rally.
