They were nicknamed the “worst offenders”, their crimes terrorizing communities, bringing destruction and even death in the streets of West Midlands. More than 80 gangs are used to operate in the region, certain notes for their criminal activity for several decades.

Turf Wars broke out between the infamous gangs, the boys of Burger Bar and Johnson Crew whose members were the source of flights and murders. Other poorly transformed groups include the Frankley Killers, 23 Drillas, the 61, the 247365, Hutton Boys, Bang-Bang, the B515, the Raiders and the Wolf Pack, which tried drugs and violence.

Violence linked to gangs through Birmingham and the Black country has become so serious that the prosecutors were forced to unite with police To open a unit dedicated to the reduction of the armies of offenders. The unit of serious violence, crime and organized exploitation of the CPS (SVOCE) opened its doors last July to tackle the gangs – the first unit of the genre.

Since its launch, 110 accused have been prosecuted, obtaining 92 convictions. But the number of cases returned to the unit remains “always high”, including gang murders, drugs and street crime.

Drug trafficking is often a “deep cause” of crimes, caused by disputes between rival gangs operating the county line networks. Forced work in cannabis factories and drilling music – a type of hip -hop with words referring to drug trafficking and street crime – are also linked to certain criminal gangs.

Douglas Mackay, deputy chief prosecutor of CPS West Midlands, said: “Serious violence causes devastation in our communities – that is why we wanted to focus on those who” live by crime “and reprimand the gangs of county lines, those who carry firearms and those who exploit others for a criminal gain. and young people of some of the people involved.

“We are determined to make progress by continuing the worst offenders and seeing them face justice, as well as to highlight those who are trapped in these spirals of violence by their own fault. The unity brings together some of our most experienced prosecutors in this area so that we can quickly build solid cases on these complex crimes.”

Here, we take a look at some of the gangs operating in the West Midlands and their members who have been locked up for painful crimes.
