A doctor from Clearwater has pleaded guilty to a health care chief in health care And agreed to give up his DEA registration number, his medical license in Florida and a permanent exclusion from Medicare and Medicaid programs, according to the Ministry of Justice.

The 66 -year -old woman violated a Florida law which forces doctors to visit the office in person and examine the patient before prescribing a substance controlled by Annex II, according to the Ministry of Justice.

The woman had a pain management clinic on Druid Road East in Clearwater.

As early as July 2011 to December 2017, she billed in front of the face to face to prescribe controlled substances such as oxycodone, but some of these visits did not take place on these dates, according to the Ministry of Justice. Instead, she filled the prescriptions for the families of patients who came by her office, without examining the patients.

She also submitted at least $ 51,500 of false medication complaints, according to a press release from the Ministry of Justice.

The case has been investigated by the detection unit of fraud and opioid abuse.
