Englishtown, New Jersey, entered the pages of history in the 18th century when General George Washington briefly siege after the Battle of Monmouth in 1778.
At that time, many of you have already heard – or read The Big New York Post Story On – The latest concert by John Alite serving as a municipal councilor for English, a small town of around 2,300 residents in the county of Monmouth du New Jersey. (Funny fact: Vito Genovese bought a property There, in 1935 and had the ground redrawn to look like Naples, Italy. The gardens of the succession – which include a false volcano – can still be included today.)
Helping young people to stay away from drugs and trouble has been John’s long -standing crusade since his prison departure in 2012 after serving 14 years. His criminal record did not prevent him from jumping in politics because in New Jersey, the disqualification of the public service is limited to the crimes committed while the person in question really occupies a public service or a public job.
The reaction (mainly people who do not live in English) were everywhere in the table.
Mayor Francisco, however, said that he was only interested in the reaction of English residents. And he said, on the file, that the city residents already knew Alite and not to disturb. “There is nothing to hide, everyone knows each other,” said Francisco.
As for his relationship with Alite, Francisco said in an interview with the media Whether they “have known each other for a few years, but our understanding of each other takes place in local businesses, drags with our business owners and talks about the problems with which our city is confronted, mainly around the prospect of trying to develop development”.
Alite told us that Francisco does not care about his past criminal record. He said that Francisco only wanted to know his current work on the anti-drug front.
Alite said that even if he had first faced skeptics, including the council, he was finally able to win them.
“I don’t smoke my past,” he said.
Alite anti-drug crusade constitutes the basis of its political platform. (Since we met him for the first time in 2014, John has worked to keep children from drugs and troubles away – and we say this based on empirical evidence: he picked us up for some of his interviews for young people.) But there is also a very personal reason – as reading in local politics (as well as his move with:: Her 30 -year -old daughter, Chelsea, died in 2022 of a fentanyl overdose. Alite moved into an English house that her family had but had rented in search of a new start.
Entering politics – or even trying to – is an invitation to a meticulous examination and intense media (a meticulous examination that even John F. Kennedy, if it were born of our time, would probably not have been in politics, said his son one day). So, yes, everything was not smooth For John Alite– or the mayor of English, who was described as “despotic” in local newspapers.
During a recent town hall meeting, John faced a long-standing enemies: the former spokesperson for the Gotti family Chris “Kasparoza”, who appeared in Reunion.
He asked mayor Francisco: “Are you aware that he has committed social fraud?”
“Stop harassing this guy!” He did what he had to do. He had his time. That’s it! Come on! You did not belong here! ” A resident shouted.
“Make me a favor!” Take out the F – K from here! ” raged another man making a gesture towards the door. “Who is the f – k this guy?”
Another told George that if residents are not satisfied with Alite’s meeting in March, they would have the opportunity to vote out of power later this year, adding: “I don’t need to listen to you badger at this meeting.”
Others shouted in unison: “Come on! Come on! Come on!” And demanded the cops escort George before leaving the Borough hall by itself.
We were not there to attend the event, and when he was contacted to comment, Chris was not exactly frank with us, blocking us and saying that what you read above from the Asbury Park press and the New York Post (the two stories!) Weren’t exact.
