Thomas Manzo, 59, of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, was sentenced after a two -week and a half week trial before the American district judge Susan D. Wigenton before the Newark Federal Court on a charging chief of having committed a violent crime with the aim of a racketeering activity, a chief of conspiracy to commit a violent crime as federal lesions and a falsification account and concoctual documents linked to a federal survey.
“Thomas Manzo hired a soldier from the crime family Lucchese to lead a vicious assault against the boyfriend of his ex-wife, which undergone a significant injury,” said American lawyer R. Sellinger. “As a unanimous jury found it, Manzo committed several offenses by providing a free marriage in exchange for the assault, then hiding documents relating to this marriage. He will now face a punishment for his crimes.”
“Manzo is now risking a long federal prison sentence because he chose to hire a” man made “to take an assault against the boyfriend of his ex -wife,” said FBI – Newark Special Agent in charge James E. Dennehy. “He then gave a free marriage and hid the documents to cover him. The facts and circumstances in this case read as something of a bad drama of televised crime, but the evidence and the testimonies presented in court prove that it was reality. We really hope that the victims of this investigation could continue their life and forget about Manzo and his criminal beds of Mafia.”
According to documents filed in this case and evidence at the trial:
In the spring of 2015, Manzo hired the soldier of the Lucchese crime family, John Perna, to attack his ex-wife’s boyfriend in exchange for a free wedding reception for Perna organized in a high-end place possessed by Manzo. PERNA, who is a “man made” in the family of crime Lucchese with his own crew, worked with his partners to plan and lead the violent assault, which took place on July 18, 2015. In exchange for the assault committee, Perna organized a sumptuous marriage reception on the Manzo site for free. During the investigation into the attack, Manzo concealed and falsified documents related to the marriage of Perna in response to a summons to Grand Jury.
The violent crime in favor of the counting of racketeering activities leads to a potential maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of $ 250,000. The conspiracy to commit violent crimes for the benefit of the racket leads to a potential maximum sentence of three years in prison, and the falsification and concealment files linked to a federal investigation accusation cause a potential maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of $ 250,000. The conviction is scheduled for October 15, 2024.
