Five members of an alleged flight crew bound by the police to two of the five families were arrested on Tuesday morning in connection with the breakage of $ 2 million in gems in two Manhattan jewelry stores.

Alleged Luqueux partner and another crew member
Dipietro, pointing to the pistol and Sellick burst into Bayco jewelry on January 3 (without appointment).
Both complaints (which makes no mention of Cosa Nostra) Loads Frank (Frankie The Fish) Dipietro, 65, from Red Bank, New Jersey; Vincent Cechio, 69, from Howard Beach, New York; Vincent Spagnuolo, 65, from Monmouth Beach, New Jersey; Michael Sellick, 67, from Franklin Square, New York, and Samuel Sorce, 25, from Florham Park, New Jersey.

The robberies took place in a Midtown store on January 3, 2023 and in a downtown store on May 20, 2023.

The five are accused of conspiracy, theft and brandishing a firearm related to a violent crime. Everyone risks up to 27 years in prison.

NYPD detective chief James Essig The New York PostWhich also noted that, according to ESSIG, Dietro, filed 12 previous arrests, notably for racketeering and murder in 1998, Sellick 23 previous arrests, mainly for bank flights dating from the 1970s, Spagnuolo six previous busts, especially for a deadly 1986 shooting in Manhattan and previous arrests of Cerchio.

On the morning of January 3, 2023, Dipietro, Cechio, Spagnuolo and Sellick went together to Midtown Manhattan in several vehicles. Around 10:20 am, an employee of Bayco Jewels located in Madison Ave near the East 61st Street was preparing to place jewelry in the window at the rue du Store when Dipietro and Sellick, dressed in construction vests, entered the building from Madison Avenue.

As the image above shows, Dipietro pointed out a weapon on the employee and said to me “give me”, before Sellick said: “Go back and go up in the closet”.

Dipietro and Sellick fled the store with at least three pieces of high-end diamond jewelry, including a 73-carat necklace, a 6-carat ring and a pair of carat earrings, each being illustrated below:

Dipietro, Sellick, Cechio and Spagnuolo then fled Midtown Manhattan. Surveillance images of the region indicate that the defendants, including Dietrotro and Cechio, have prepared for the flight “wrap” the scene the day before.

On the morning of May 20, 2023, the employees of a jewelry on Elizabeth Street in Manhattan had just opened for business when Dipietro and Sellick – again hidden and carrying construction vests – entered the front door at the rue du Magasin.

Sellick pointed out a weapon on store employees and ordered them on the ground, while Dipietro gathered jewelry.

After Dipietro and Sellick fled the store with the stolen products, they first entered a wardrobe driven car – who was also dressed as a construction worker – before a second flight car driving by Spagnuolo.

The men exchanged the registration plates for fraudulent license plates on the morning of the flight, according to a criminal complaint.

The cops began to continue one of the cars after someone in the Lower Manhattan store called 911 later in the morning. But the driver of the car abandoned him on rue Montgomery in the bottom on the east side and fled on foot, according to the complaint.

Deputy Director of the FBI responsible, Michael J. Driscoll, said: “The defendants have stolen from Manhattan jewelry stores of around $ 2 million in goods under the threat of a weapon.

The Commissioner of the NYPD Sewell said: “Rapid arrests in this case reaffirm the firm commitment of the NYPD, with its law enforcement partners, to keep everyone accused of violent acts responsible. case.”

This case is treated by the unity of general crimes of the office. Deputy lawyers for the United States Alexandra S. Mester and Justin Horton are in charge of the accusation.

The lawyer for Dipipitri Mathew Mari said to post: “The police were desperate to resolve these cases so that they bring together the usual suspects. It will be a trial that will end with the government with eggs on their face!”
SELLICK lawyer Gerald McMahon said The case against his client was “a terrible case of erroneous identity”.

The accused were presented to the Manhattan Federal Court before the American judge Sarah Netburn.

All except Spagnuolo would have been detained without deposit.
