From September 24 to 28, Insight Crime participated in the 11th edition of Dig Awards, an International Investigation Journalism Festival in Modena, Italy, where our project manager James Bargent was a finalist of our podcast The Shadow of El Dorado. The series explores how gold extraction in places like Ségovia, Colombia, is imbued with violence and illegality, revealing how the pursuit of this “blood” metal enriches not only the warlords and the gangsters, but also the global political and commercial elite.
