The new prince's security company, VEctus Global, which is already present in Haiti, will intensify its operations in the Caribbean nation to help the authorities

US President Donald Trump’s donor and private military entrepreneur Blackwater, Erik Prince, will lead a mission in Haiti to combat the violence of gangs in the country. The mission will soon include fighters from the United States, Europe and Salvador which will be deployed in the country torn apart by violence.

The new prince's security company, VECTUS Global, which is already present in Haiti, will intensify its operations in the Caribbean nation to help the authorities to fight the highly armed criminal groups and to go up the territories, according to a report of Reuters.

The story continues below this announcement

Since February 2024, the capital of Haiti has been largely isolated from the rest of the country after armed groups have launched an offensive coordinated against the government, ousted the Prime Minister and entering the control of a large part of Port-au-Prince.

According to the United Nations, more than 1,500 people were killed between April and July, most of them in the capital. The majority of these deaths occurred during security force operations, with approximately a third resulting from drone strikes, which the government has recently started to use to target armed groups.

Who is Erik Prince?

Prince, a former Seal US Navy, founded the military security company of Blackwater in 1997. He sold the company in 2010 after the employees of Blackwater were found guilty of illegally killed 14 non-armed civilians while escorting a convoy of the United States Embassy on the Place Nisour in Baghdad. The men were forgiven by Trump during his first mandate in the White House.

Since Trump's return to the White House, Prince has advised the equator on how to fight criminal gangs and has concluded an agreement with the Democratic Republic of Congo to help secure and tax its mineral wealth.

What will do his business in Haiti?

A person familiar with the operations of the company in Haiti told Reuters that VEctus would intensify their fight against the criminal gangs which control the great expanses of Haiti in the coming weeks in coordination with the Haitian police, deployment of several hundred combatants from the United States, Europe and the Salvador El who are trained as snippers and specialists in intelligence and communication, as well as helicopters. The VETUS force includes French and Creole speakers, said the person.
