The New York Mafia boss Carlo Gambino is considered a legend of hell by many. An intelligent and ruthless individual who drew directly at the top of the Cosa Nostra and whose crime family always bears his name. But not everyone is so impressed. Some Wiseguys thought that Gambino “Ain’t Shit”.
It is difficult to get to know gangland figures. They operate in the shadows. If you are not in their immediate circle of friends (of us) or the family, you have little reason to know them personally. They are kept and hold many secrets.
So, how can we discover what some of the most notoric mafia bosses in America look like? Well, we go to those who knew them and who are ready to share their ideas. Like someone who had criminal relations with Carlo Gambino.
The rise of Carlo Gambino
Carlo Gambino made his bones, committed his first murder, for the mafia in Sicily. Allegedly while being a teenager. Rumors say that it was transformed into a Sicilian mafia thereafter. He arrived in the United States in 1921 at the age of 19 and quickly joined the local criminal element.

After “Lucky” Luciano removed the last boss of the bosses, Gambino became part of the crime family led by Vincent ManganoOne of the five operating in New York. As had happened to the boss of the bosses and those called the boss before, Mangano was also killed. His murder was orchestrated by his successor: Albert Anastasia, a vicious hitman and a head of head in the sadly MURDER INC.
Anastasia had a lot of tremors in their boots. But not Gambino. He knew the murder. To date, he also knew politics behind you to kill your boss. He had some discussions and reached pimples. Men accepted. The men offered support. Some others have been recruited to take care of the Nitty Gritty.

Assassins set an ambush in Anastasia on the morning of October 25, 1957, while he was relaxing on a hairdressing chair from the Park Sheraton hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The hired killers wore scarves that covered their faces as they entered the hair salon. They pushed the hairdresser away and exploded to Anastasia and did not stop until he lengthens on the ground in a pond of his own blood. Motionless. Dead.
It was then that Carlo Gambino became the boss of the crime family who would be called the Gambino family for decades to come. His cunning and his ability to manipulate people and politics had placed him at the top of an organization made up of thousands of criminals. He was now one of the most feared gangsters in America.
A real gangster enters the room
Almost at the same time that Gambino became Boss, a sage named John “Sonny” Franzese was an increasing figure in the family of New York profaci crime, named after his chief Joseph ProFaci. Franzse was known as a cold stone killer, who said a lot at the time when the killers were a penny a dozen.

After the death of profaci, Joseph Magliocco took over. For at least a while. When he and his compatriot boss of the crowd, Joseph Bonanno, plotted to kill three bosses of Mafia Rivaux, things did not go as they had planned. Magliocco recruited his trusted hitman Joseph Colombo take the blows. But instead of taking care of the business, Colombo went directly to Carlo Gambino and shared the details of the plot.
Magliocco and Bonanno received the order to appear before the Commission, the Committee included the most powerful mafia bosses. Bonanno preferred to flee. Magliocco appeared and confessed his role in the plot. His life was spared, but he was forced to retire.
For his role in the plot, Joseph Colombo was rewarded by the higher seat, he was crowned the new boss.

Colombo made Franzse his sub-boss.
Although it was his competence as a murderer who made Franzsese, the pun, it was his ability to generate money that placed him on the rapid track of the ladder. As a sub-boss, he supervised countless rackets and offers.
He had now seated and meetings with other high -level gangsters. With men like Carlo Gambino.
Gambino was 15 years older than Franzse, but the two men had climbed the same scale and had done so in a fairly similar way. They had a lot in common.
Franzais did not agree.
Gambino loose
During an individual, sit between Gambino and Franzais, things have become quite heated. Literally. Apparently, Franzais was sweating a little. Thus, he stretched his hand in his pocket to remove a fabric.
When Gambino saw Franzese’s hand go to his pocket, he took the worst: this violent hitman was going to shoot him here and now!
Gambino immediately plunged to the ground, leaving Franzese holding a fabric and a perplexed look at his face.

Although Franzese ignored Gambino’s dive to hide and mentioned anything, it was clear what had happened. One of the bosses of the most powerful mafia in the United States was afraid and was threw with all his body.
Franzese would say later to his son John: “This fucking guy has no shit.”
Author SJ Peddie has had several exclusive interviews with “Sonny” Franzse for his book Sonny: the last of the older mafia bosses. It was Peddie who managed to have an overview of Gambino. Well, from the point of view of Franzese.
Is this story true? Who can say. All those involved are dead. Before Franzese died with a mature old age of 103, he said and told Peddie. No one could contradict him. Many did not dare either.
If there is a truth in this story, it is that “Sonny” Franzese was one of the most feared gangsters in the United States, he still took care of business when most of his peers were rotting in nursing homes.
If someone could make a Carlo Gambino dive covered, it was Franzse.
It’s a fact.
