He went from Lawbreaker to the legislator.
John Alite, a former Turncoat of Gambino Crime Family Family Turning, was sworn in Wednesday as a municipal councilor representing the sleeping district of the New Jersey of English.
“What do you know? I really can do good. I already had a bad past, and I’m here to buy all my life, and I would like to get out everything in a positive way,” Alite, 62 told post.
His work in the 1980s and 1990s as the first “winning” for the “Teflon Don”, the boss of Gambino John Gotti and the son John “Junior” Gotti, will serve him well in politics, he explained.
“I understand Machiavelli stuff, betrayal,” said Alite.
“I mean that every aspect of the street is like the government, so I understand that the maneuvers that these candidates do, so I think I will be able to put my knowledge and history in politics.”
Alite said that he had spent 14 years in prison for convictions that include six murders, at least 37 shots and countless beats while working as a Gambino height man.
But he did not have to put rivals in cement boots to mark his headquarters of the council.
He was appointed to fill a vacancy until the end of the year after being recruited by the mayor of English Daniel Francisco and other local leaders impressed by his civic work to help young people.
At first, there were skeptics – including certain members of the council – but Alite finally convinced that he was someone that they could not refuse.
“Yeah, there were people who opposed it-but I don’t smoke my past at all,” he said. “I use it as a way to move forward, influence children and get them out of the street, transform a negative into positive.”
The ex -mobster will hold the headquarters for two more years until 2027 – unless someone dares to file documents by March 21 to challenge him during an election.
“I was told that I would not be challenged because there are other seats held by people who are less popular than me, and obviously, I am in the eyes of the public and I do a lot of media and ills (motivation) in the county of (Monmouth),” he said. “Everyone knows me, so I would be difficult to beat in a race.”
The former Wiseguy said he was more qualified than any left -hander Democrat currently occupying a higher position.
“You hear some of these people like (Texas Democratic Rep.) Jasmine Crockett Talk, and they do not seem to be educated,” added Alite, who has graduated Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn and went to the University of Tampa on a baseball purse to abandon a few years later after having jumped his arm.
And he already looks at his next move.
“I was asked – I can’t talk about names, but I have already been asked to go for a higher position,” said Alite, who said he was one day for Congress, and aims to model after President Trump, for whom he campaigned since 2016 and met personally.
“It is not your typical politician; he does the job; he is a work executioner. I mean that he has so many good qualities,” Alite said, Who Records Show has donated $ 6,501 to Trump and other republican candidates since 2020.
The Goodfella, born in Queens, has reinvented itself since he became a free man in 2012 – four years after having become the witness of the star government in a 2008 racketeering case against his best friend Junior Gotti.
The trial ended with a suspended jury.
Alite said he wanted to repair the fences with Junior, but he did not hold back his breath.
Gotti did not return messages. However, he told the post in 2016 that he was a “guy forgive” – but not with regard to Alite.
“He is one of the most shameless human beings that God has created … He uses the Gotti theme to improve his career,” said Gotti.
Alite co-wrote five pounds on the life of the crowd, is a prolific podcastor and also wins a payroll check as a traveling motivation lecturer who approaches subjects such as domestic violence, intimidation and the country’s drug epidemic.
He earns a life good enough to have given up the modest salary of the borough council of $ 3,500 per year, but admitted that it was far from the “millions of dollars” that he won “for a good year” in the crowd, when his wallet included four nightclubs in New York and a dozen households along the east coast.
At the top of Alite’s political platform, it is against the dangers of illegal drugs. Her 30 -year -old daughter Chelsea died three years ago from a fentanyl overdose. The tragedy led him to move to English.
Alite – Who could never get up to be a man made in the Italian crowd because he is 100% Albanian – said he wanted to make sure that there are enough programs after school to keep the “children out of the street” and far from drugs.
“The influence of drugs in this county is terrible,” said Alite, whose single employer was known for cocaine trafficking. “Child, I was one, and now I have a chance to change this.”
Alite, who is divorced and has four sons, was surrounded by his mother and other members of his family when he was sworn in Wednesday to English Borough Hall. Subsequently, he participated in his first meeting of the Council.
On the agenda of the tiny community of central jersey with just over 2,300 residents: fill out poule nests, Christmas lights, a horrible fence and appoint an acting police chief.
Francisco, mayor of English, said that Alite deserves a chance.
“I can only judge him about what I know,” he said. “John is a guy who is quick to be opened and friendly. He has vast experience and links in the political and commercial world.”
“I know he does a lot of awareness work,” added the mayor. “He shares a vision of development in our local city center, and I think he will contribute to this effort to redefine the landscape of our community.”
