Gangs worldwide are a constant threat to young people around the world. The need for new members never stops. Why would he do it? In Naples, the Maestri di Strada organization (Street Teachers) helps these young people, DW reports. In the neighborhoods where gangs recruit young members, it works to prevent school dropouts and crime while improving the prospects of young people.
Maestri di Strada does most of his work in Ponticelli, a district controlled by the Neapolitan Camorra Mafia. “Street teachers are respected here because they also help members of the Mafia clans family,” reports DW.
