Gangs worldwide are a constant threat to young people around the world. The need for new members never stops. Why would he do it? Many finding themselves in prison or dead, others must fill empty positions. In Naples, in Italy, gangs are the first step in the world of Camorra. A world that effectively ends the chances they would have in society.

In Naples, the Maestri di Strada organization (Street Teachers) helps these young people, DW reports. In the neighborhoods where gangs recruit young members, it works to prevent school dropouts and crime while improving the prospects of young people.

Maestri di Strada does most of his work in Ponticelli, a district controlled by the Neapolitan Camorra Mafia. “Street teachers are respected here because they also help members of the Mafia clans family,” reports DW.

DW: “Rather than academic performance, Maestri di Strada hierarte cooperation and unity, offering young people a life beyond crime. The group has its registered office in a old dilapidated school building. Despite limited resources and a lack of government support, street teachers are determined not to abandon. One day, they hope to install schools across Italy according to their educational approaches. ”
